As a birth doula, I accompany women in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. I am certified by DONA International. I draw on my professional training, knowledge and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort and information to help with any questions that may arise during your pregnancy and birthing time. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for your birthing progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques for comfort. I am independent and self-employed. As your doula, I am working for you, not your caregiver or hospital.I will meet with you and your partner at least twice before your birthing time to become acquainted, to explore and discuss your priorities and any fears or concerns, to discuss/assist with your birth plan and to plan how we might best work together. I will also inform you of times when I am unavailable for labor support. To cover those times, I will arrange one or more qualified back-up doulas that I work with regularly, whom you may also meet. We may also decide on other meetings and will certainly want to remain in touch by telephone and /or email. During these visits we will also go over birthing positions for comfort, hypnosis and relaxation sessions, birth ball usage, answer any questions you may have and view a video together. I am on call (and always available by telephone) 24/7, for you, once you have retained my services. I provide continuous in-person support from active labor until 1-2 hours postpartum. I offer massage, aroma therapy, suggestions of position changes and hypnosis/relaxation techniques to facilitate a shorter birthing time. I assist women and their partners to achieve their birthing goals. With my service I also include a follow up visit with Mom and Baby to ensure a good start to the breastfeeding couple and help to answer any questions you might have. I will also give you CD copy of all photos I take at your birth.
